在美国读文科专业（如社会学、哲学等）前途是否真的渺茫？
答：首先，你对前途的定义是？体面的工作和不错的薪水？
如果是前者，文科一条路走到phd, 留校任教，潜心学术，若干年后桃李无数，那不是最受人尊敬也最体面的工作吗？JD之后毕业做律师也很decent呀！
如果是后者，以收入来衡量，文科就业领域无非是学校、政府、NGO、律所、传媒行业以及自由职业，大部分起薪是不如理工农商医，但是期间的收入差距可能会影响生活质量（有质量的前提是你也有生活情趣哦），但是大不到改变你的阶级和家族命运（扯远了）。
（but你志在赚大钱的话不如创业吧，话说不知妻美刘强东和悔创阿里杰克马都是妥妥的文科生；或者创作也成，笔耕不辍，妙笔生花，说不定某天你的天马行空会带来让你惊喜的财富，比如J.K. Rowling阿姨 ）
其次，我们换个角度来想想这个问题—想要所谓的前途，那早干嘛去了，本科为什么不学STEM？
因为不喜欢—以前不喜欢，现在就喜欢了吗；兴趣是最好的老师，如果真没兴趣，穿越时光机回到过去，就能学好重新选择的专业吗？ 因为不擅长—还是那句话，做不到极致，又怎么和他人竞争？
我也是文科生一枚，本科和研究生都是纯纯的文科—当年申请学校的时候也考虑过，是跟着兴趣走，还是去学相对好就业的商业专业。最后还是决定follow my heart，选择了文科中的文科。
然后在英国读master的那一年应该就是我人生中最happy（耳目一新的那种happy!）的一年，接触到了奇奇怪怪但是十分有趣的文化理论，让我建立了自己的一套逻辑，可以解读身边的人和事，也可以有力量去抵挡世俗的偏见—强大了内心，让我更心平气和了。
看看现在的学科，理工农商医都是这么的instrumental，只有我们文科闪耀着人类文明的光辉，站在学科的金字塔尖睥睨芸芸，有种指点江山的感觉。我感觉以上科目都是方法论，而文科是世界观（有点夸张了），但是文科尤其是文史哲，从某种意义上来说，是令人开智的，而且获得的智慧会以三观的形式存在，影响你的一生。可惜我脑子不够用，不然也想学习哲学一窥奥妙。
然后针对每个人不同的情况，其实选择也很多呀—如果不想读Phd，纯看就业的话，可以申JD or LLM（前提是TO14啦）或者转专业申商科的master (IMC MKT ACCOUNTING和BA都OK，BA还是STEM)都是挺好的选择。
金工CS这些too technical的工作应该是做不了了，但是咨询投行还是有很大几率可以进，只要你是好学校毕业~~~说到这里顺便想提一提，咨询投行四大除了看学校，还看人，腹有诗书气自华，学文科多看看reading多练练逻辑思维，到哪里都不吃亏，还可以帮助你stand out！
最后多说一句，不管今后做什么样的选择，事前多问问自己为什么这样做，一旦有足够的理由back up你的选择，就一往无前，全身心投入。
钱多钱少事业成功与否，都是相对的，活泼自在心安勤奋最重要。

澳洲社会工作者文科生的移民好选择
　　周末无休，为了为广大生朋友寻找出路，更加系统的介绍的留学机会，俺又开始奋笔疾书了。工作中经常遇到学文科的同学经常抱怨，翻译不能移民了、商科又不喜欢、教师课程又不够，到底该选择哪些文科课程呢？今天我就给大家讲解一下社会工作者这个专业（272511 Social Worker）。
　　1. 社会工作者协会(AASW):
　　成立于1946年，是代表了澳州所有社工的专业行业协会，The AASW is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia. It was formed in 1946 at the federal level。
　　2. 社会工作者的职能和目标：
　　社会工作者是致力于社会公平、提高生活质量和开发个人团体和社区的潜能的一种工作。社会工作者追求解决当今社会普遍存在的各种障碍、不平等和不公正现象，他们积极参与解决公民个人的压力和危机境况。主要方法是通过帮助个人实现他们的智力、体力和情感的潜力，通过和个人、团体和社区合作来达到社会、经济和政治资源的公平分配。
　　Social work is the profession committed to the pursuit of social justice, to the enhancement of the quality of life and the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in society. Social workers pursue these goals by working to address the barriers, inequalities, and injustices that exist in society, and by active involvement in situations of personal distress and crisis. This is done by working with individuals towards the realiion of their intellectual, physical and emotional potentials, and by working with individuals, groups and communities in the pursuit and achievement of equitable access to social, economic and political resources.
　　社会工作者的目标是
　　－参与研究、政策制定分析、和管理；
　　－和个人、团体、社区协作制定和改变生存环境的条件；
　　－为社会弱势群体争取更多利益；
　　－铲除社会结构性不公正现象，推广公平财富资源分配 ；
　　－致力于研究以建立知识库加强对社会的了解；
　　－分析、挑战和发展当前的各类社会政策 ；

　　3. 哪些大学开始认可的社会工作者课程？
　　澳大利亚有很多大学提供这个课程，总体本科时间为4年，硕士2年。完成2年社区福利(Welfare worker)高级文凭的学生可以获得25%-50%的学分转移。也就是说完成2年社区福利后需要再上2-3年完成本科学位。

　　该专业是Social Woker － 272511位列SOL清单，同时也在CSOL，是雇主提名认可专业。澳大利亚移民局数据显示，年度，移民配额为1260个，但是半年过去了，才有80个申请，严重存在供小于求的现状，随着老年化和亚洲移民的增多，社会工作人员的需求还将快速增加。

　　5. 关于移民职业评估英文要求：
　　只要拿到AASW的会员资格，就相当于拿到了职业评估，不过申请人需要达到以下一个语言要求。
　　A. 在澳、加、新、爱、和完成小学和中学。
　　Completed primary school and secondary school education in English (education must have been completed using the English language) in one of the Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom or the United States of America. Suitab school certificates from primary and secondary school or a birth certificate and secondary school results. 或者
　　B. 在澳、加、新、爱、英国和美国完成至少3年本科或硕士学习。Completed the equivalent of 3 years or more full time study at the level of Bachelor dee or higher in one of the Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom or the United States of America. Suitable evidence includes academic transcripts showing the length of the course and the course was conducted in English. 或者
　　C. 在澳、加、新、爱、英国和美国完成3年社会工作者工作经验。需要工作证明作为证据。Completed at least 3 years post qualifying social work employment using English as the primary means of communication in one of the following countries Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom or the United States of America. Suitable evidence of employment is provided through references verifiying dates and that English was the primary means of communication throughout practice. 或者
　　D. 如果海外学位持有人利用海外的相关学历来申请评估，则需要雅思A类4个7分（G类不可以）。
　　Obtained a score of 7.0 or more in each component (listening, reading, writing and speaking) of the Academic IELTS.& Suitable evidence of IELTS can be submitted through a certified copy of the IELTS test report results form. Please note the AASW can not accept General IELTS tests.
　　总结：在的学生只要总共学习不少于3年，是不要英文就可以拿到职业评估的。
　　6.& 留学生的课程选择：
　　我本科不是社会工作者但是在澳洲学2年社会工作硕士可以申请吗？ I have an undergraduate degree and a 2 year Masters in Social Work. Will I be eligible?
　　无需本科是社会工作专业，比如本科是心理学、社会课程、社会学、咨询顾问学等也可以申请，不过硕士必须是Qualifying的硕士才可以。Applicants with non social work but relevant undergratuate degrees (ie Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Social Science or Sociology) and accredited post graduate social work qualifying courses should submit the required documentation for both periods of study. This is recommended as some of the units completed in the undergraduate studies are likely to be relevant and used to assist in the process of ensuring all the assessment criteria are met. All applicants need to ensure that their Masters was a qualifying Masters not a Masters Advanced which is not a social work qualifying course.
