When asked why he didn’t go a block away where there were no lines, he said,
“Every penny counts. When I bought this ’99 Bummer, gas was only $1 a gallon,
which was pretty cheap. So,(28)________ ________ I only get eight miles per
gallon, I wasn’t paying that much to fill my tank. But today’s prices are

I(29)________never do that any more now.”Section BDirections: Complete the following passage by using the words in the box.
Each word can only be used once. Note that there is one word more than you
need. How would you like to wear the same underwear for weeks? Owing to the work
that has gone into developing intelligent materials, this may not be as __30__
as it sounds. Self-cleaning clothes have now been created, and these new
materials provide __31__ resistance to dirt as well as water. As a result, they
require much less cleaning than traditional materials. The creation of self-cleaning clothes provides an example of how nature helps
scientists develop better products. This self-cleaning nature is known as the
&lotus effect&. The name comes, of course, from the lotus leaves, which are
famous for growing in muddy lakes and rivers while remaining almost __32__
clean. By observing nature, scientists are __33__ the qualities of the lotus
leaves to the materials they have engineered. Because of this, some remarkable
new products have been __34__. Among them are special windows that are __35__ to
dirt and water. A special __36__ on these windows not only prevents dirt from
sticking to their surfaces, but also allows dust to be easily washed off by the
rain. In fact, these new windows have already been __37__ to some cars. Even
when traveling at high speed through rain, these cars never have to use their
windshield wipers (雨刮器)。Although we have already seen some practical applications, even more dramatic
__38__ will be made in the future, and they will, perhaps, change our world
completely. Undoubtedly, technology is an important development, and it will
have an even bigger __39__ on our lives.
III. Reading ComprehensionSection ADirections: For each blank in the following passage there are four words or
phrases marked A, B, C and D. Fill in each blank with the word or phrase that
best fits the context. The famous American inventor Thomas Alva Edison once claimed that genius was
one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration(汗水). Now, it seems,
there is scientific evidence to __40__ his claim. The idea that geniuses such as
Shakespeare, Mozart, and Picasso possessed certain inborn talents is a false
belief, according to a study by a British psychologist and his colleagues. After examining outstanding performance in the arts and sports, these
researchers concluded that __41__ is determined by opportunity, encouragement,
training, motivation, self-confidence, and — most important of all — __42__.
Even people who were not thought to be __43__ with any special talent could,
after having received training, reach levels __44__ considered attainable (可获得的)
only by gifted individuals. ?Talent is a false belief, and it is time that
people got rid of it,” they said. This theory — a dramatic __45__ with traditional beliefs — has been __46__ by
academics worldwide. In fact, studies of accomplished artists and
mathematicians, and top tennis players and swimmers, have reported few early
signs of __47__ in these people before any parental encouragement. No case has
been found of anyone reaching the highest levels of achievement without __48__
himself or herself to thousands of hours of serious training. Even those who are
believed to be exceptionally talented — whether in music, mathematics, chess, or
sports — have needed lengthy periods of instruction and practice to achieve
their highest level of success. ?The persistent false belief that some people
reach high levels of performance without spending numerous hours practising
__49__ much to the fact that their practice is usually outside the casual
observer’s view,? stated one scientist. The importance of practice has been noticed in athletics. For instance,
differences in the composition of certain muscles were once thought to be __50__
predictors of athletic performance. However, the differences in the proportion
of certain muscle fibers(组织)that are __51__ for success in long-distance running
are largely the result of extended practice in running. ? What makes a genius
then?? one may ask. __52__, there is no clear answer. What is known, however, is
that ?nurture? is at least as important as ?nature.? __53__, a supportive
environment will do far more for a child’s prospects of success than any inborn
gifts. This is a message that most of us will find __54__ — even if we haven’t
won the gene lottery, our fate is still in our own hands.40. A. make B. challenge C. support D. dismiss41. A. excellence B. harmony C. negotiation D. response42. Section BDirections: Read the following three passages. Each passage is followed by
several question or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four
choices marked A,B,C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the
information given in the passage you have just read.(A)If scientists could create a pill that let you live twice as long while
remaining free of diseases, would you take it ?If one considers only the personal benefits that longer life would bring, the
answer might seem like a no-brainer: People could spend more time with loved
watch future learn new languages or try different
careers. But what about society as a whole ? would it be better off if life spans were
doubled? The question is of growing importance, and serious debate about it goes
back GCLA’s School of Public Health, answered the question with a firm “Yes”. A
doubted lifespan, Stock said, would “give us a chance to recover from our
mistakes, lead us towards longer-term thinking and delay the start of expensive
diseases of aging. It would also raise productivity through adding to our prime
years.”Callahan, a co-founder of the Hastings Center in New York, didn’t share
Stock’s enthusiasm. For one thing, he said, doubling life spans won’t solve any
of our current social problems. “We have war, poverty, all sorts of issues
around, and I don’t think any of them would be at all helped if people lived
longer,” Callahan said in a telephone interview. “The question is , ‘What will
we get as a society?’ I suspect it won’t be a better society.”Other point out that a doubling of the human lifespan will affect society at
every level. Ideas about marriage and work will change in fundamental ways, they
say, as will attitudes toward the young and the old.55. In Paragraph 2, “a no-brainer” most probably refers to ____.A. something coming to mind naturallyB. someone unwilling to thinkC. something difficult to bear in mindD. someone having a low IQ56. (C)On October 24, 1929---“Black Thursday”---- a wave of panic selling of stocks
swept the New York Stock Exchange. The Great Depression began. By 1932,
thousands of banks and businesses had failed. Industrial production was cut in
half, farm income had fallen by more than half, wages had decreased 60 percent,
new investment was down 90 percent and one out of every four workers was
unemployed. The Republican president, Herbert Hoover was unable to take measures to deal
with the economic collapse. So in the 1932 election, he was defeated by Democrat
Franklin D. Roosevelt, who promised “a New Deal for the American people”.Within the “Hundred Days”, Roosevelt rushed through Congress a number of laws
to aid the recovery of the economy. The Civilian Conservation Corps put young
men to work in reforestation and flood. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration aided state and local relief
funds. The Agricultural Adjustment Administration paid farmers to reduce
production, thus raising crop prices. The Tennessee Valley Authority built a
network of dams in the Tennessee River area to generate electricity, control
floods and manufacture fertilizer. The National Recovery Administration
regulated fair competition among businesses and ensured bargaining rights and
minimum wages for workers. The Social Security Act of 1935 established contributory old age and
survivors’ pensions, as well as a joint federal state program of unemployment
insurance. The Work Progress Administration was one of the most effective of the New
Deal measures. Financed by taxes collected by the federal government, the WPA
created millions of jobs by undertaking the construction of roads, bridges,

The depth range over which oil generation occurs is known as the “oil window”. This oil window is usually different for most sedimentary basins. It may cover several thousand meters or may be confined to less than a thousand meters. The depth range for the oil window is mainly a function of the past geothermal gradient and is similar to the present geothermal gradient if the subsidence history is continuous. If this assumption is correct, then the oil window can be estimated from the current downhole temperatures. However, if the tectonic history of the basin has been active, then such assumptions can lead to gross errors. The determination of the oil window is best performed by geochemical means using T(max), bitumen extraction, gas chromatography and optical methods such as vitrinite reflectance.

能不能帮我翻译下这个,谢啦ABSTRACTAn orthopedic leg abductor for resisting muscular contraction of a user comprises a pair of adjustable sleeves Whichsecure about a patient’s thighs. The adjustable sleeves areeach connected to a separate rigid member, Which in turn isconnected to a belt Which is fastened about the patient’sWaist. The rigid members preferably comprise a pair ofpivoting bars Which are lockable in a predetermined angularrelationship according to the needs and requirements of theindividual patient. The rigid bars give the abductor structureand also serve to prevent the patient from retracting into afetal position. The sleeves are also separated by mechanicalmeans such as a collapsible hinge Which is adjustable tokeep the patient’s legs apart, thereby reducing the patient’sdisposition to contract into an undesirable position andprovide extension of the muscles in the hip region. Themechanical means ?xes the distance between the tWosleeves and can be easily locked into position. The apparatusincludes covers for each rigid member and mechanicalmeans, and all elements Whose surfaces are designed tocontact the user are machine Washable.1ORTHOPEDIC HIP AND LEG ABDUCTORBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION1. Field of the InventionThe present invention relates to medical apparatus, andparticularly to a device for bracing a user’ legs in a predetermined position for the treatment of various muscle atrophying conditions.2. Description of Related ArtA common af?iction among the elderly and the handicapped is a condition in Which the body begins to contractinto a fetal position during extended periods of extremeinactivity. “Contracture” is a shortening and thickening ofthe connective tissue ?bers Which restrict the range ofmotion of a joint. When a patient is immobiliZed forextended periods due to sickness or injury, the tissue ?bersbegin to shorten and contract. Apatient in this condition canexperience a reduced range of motion in his or her extremities Within three days, and trauma, edema, or impairedcirculation can accelerate the condition. Contracture canbegin as soon as four days after immobiliZation and clearlyobservable manifestations can be observed after ten days. After fourteen days, the condition may be so severe as torequire surgery to repair. It is estimated that after thefourteenth day of immobilization, it requires ten days oftherapy to return he affected extremity to a functional state. In contracture, the connective tissue of the hips and thighscontract causing the connected muscles to decrease inlength. This reduction in muscle length causes the hip, knee, and ankle to ?ex. The ?exure draWs the foot and knee toWardthe body, often against the resistance of a bed surface orrestraint. The pressure on the part of the body against the bedcan lead to pressure ulcers, a common symptom of patientsexperiencing contracture. The contracture also occurs Withthe strong ?exion of the hip, causing the patient to curl at theWaist. Flexure at the hip Will subsequently cause the kneesto ?ex, both as a product of the condition and additionallyto reduce the forces at the hip. The contraction at the kneesresults in the patient assuming a fetal position, of Which longterm exposure can result in a crippling deformity.Treatment of contractures in the past has been attemptedWith splinting devices, Which straighten the legs using aplastic shell With a reusable, Washable liner. HoWever, patients With the condition often times cannot straightentheir legs and ?nd it dif?cult to keep their hips from ?exingeven With their legs straightened.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention is a hip and leg abductor Whichsupports a patient’s pelvis, and positions the patient’s hipsand legs in a plurality of positions. A sturdy belt is placedaround the patient’s Waist and secured using any suitablemethod. The belt is suf?ciently stiff to provide pelvicsupport, and mount hip joints comprising a ?rst pair of rigidbars mounted at a ?rst end to the belt. A second pair of barsare pivotally connected to the ?rst pair of bars, and theconnected bars include a locking mechanism for securingthe hip joint in a plurality of angular positions. The secondpair of bars are each connected to a sleeve designed to retainthe patient’s thighs such that the relative position of theloWer bars determine the angular position of the patient’sthighs and torso. The abductor also includes a mechanicalmeans to adjustably separate the patient’s thighs by apre-selected distance. In a preferred embodiment, a pair ofscissoring members pivoting about a pin provide the101525354555652mechanical means to separate the patient’s legs, includinglocking means for securing the members in a selectedposition.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSThe exact nature of this invention, as Well as its objectsand advantages, Will become readily apparent upon reference to the folloWing detailed description When consideredin conjunction With the accompanying draWing, Wherein:FIG. 1 is an elevated perspective vieW of the presentinvention Worn by a patient in aFIG. 2 is an elevated perspective vieW of the presentinvention Worn by a patient in FIG. 3 is an elevated perspective vieW of the presentinvention With FIG. 4 is a partially exploded vieW of the present invention With protectiFIG. 5 is an elevated perspective vieW of the thigh paddlesand abdu andFIG. 6 is a vieW of a preferred embodiment of the pinnedjoints of the collapsible hinge.DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THEPREFERRED EMBODIMENTSThe folloWing description is provided to enable anyperson skilled in the art to make and use the invention andsets forth the best modes contemplated by the inventor ofcarrying out his invention. A step metallogenetic model for gold deposits in the northwestern
Shandong Peninsula, ChinaABSTRACT
Based on our study of the nature and variation of mineralization-controlling faults in their deep extension and the spatial distribution of gold orebodies in the northwestern Shandong Peninsula (NSP), here we propose that the gold deposits in the jiaojia gold belt are controlled by listric faults and the gold deposits in the NSP are controlled by extensional fault system.
We also suggest that there is a multiple mineralization space in the deep part of the NSP gold belt. As steps or benches occur along the deep extention of the listric fault where its dipping angle changes from steep to gentle, a number of gold deposits are correspondingly distributed as a steplike pattern, which is named as a step metallogenetic model for gold deposits in the NSP. The gold deposits in Shandong Peninsula were formed in the Cretaceous when the crust in the region experienced extention and thinning following the strong collision between North China Plate and Yangtze Plate during the Triassic. Crust anataxis, fluid remobilization, and extention-detachement of the crust are the leading factors for the gold mineralization.Key words:deep-seated gold deposit, step metallogenetic model, northwestern shandong Peninsula, Jiaojia gold belt1
Regional geology
Gold deposits in the NSP are controlled largely by three major faults: Sanshandao, Jiaojia and Zhaoping faults. The faults define three gold metallogenic belts striking generally northeast. In addition, a set of second-order NE-trending faults, some northwest- and east-west-trending faults, are developed. The Sanshandao and the Zhaoping faults dip to southeast whereas the Jiaojia fault between them dips to NW .The
constitute
"syncline-anticline"structural pattern. Between the Sanshandao and the Jiaojia faults and to the east of the Zhaoping fault, the Early Pre-Cambrian metamorphic rocks are exposed, which consist of Neoarchean TTG granitic gneisses, metagabbro (amphibolite) with a small number of relict enclaves of Jiaodong Group and Mesoarchean Tangjiazhuang Group. Between the Jiaojia fault and the Zhaoping fault, Linglong granite of Jurassic age is intruded by Guojialing granodiorite, Wei-deshan granite, Laoshan granite and related dykes (lamprophyre, diabase porphyries, diorite porphyries and granitic dyke, etc.). The Ling long granite is cut by the major faults. Minor Cretaceous sedimentary cover occurs in the north and south of the area. Quaternary loose sediments are distributed along rivers and in plains close to the coastline.2
Distribution patterns of gold deposits in the Jiao, jia gold belt2.1
Ore-hosting structure
Both shallow- and deep-seated gold deposits are distributed on the footwall of the Jiaojia fault. In map view, ore bodies occur mainly in places where the fault branches (offsets),re-merges, dilates or inflects. The ore bodies occur below the inflections of the fault where the dip angle of the fault changes from steep to gentle . Jiaojia fault exhib- its listric fault nature and has two pronounced inflections above一1400 m level. At the first inflection, shallow gold ore bodies are distributed from the surface to 400 m depth, where the dip angle of the fault changes gradually from 700 to 300. The thicker part of the main ore body lies below一100 m. At the second inflection, deep-seated gold ore bodies are distributed from -600 to一1000 m, where the dip angle changes gradually from ca. 300 to 160. The thicker part of the main ore body lies below -850 m. Thus, the Jiaojia fault exhibits a step or slope-plateau feature. The main gold ore bodies were deposited in the two steps with the thicker part on the gentle-dipping plateau. The main ore body of the Jiaojia gold deposit is distributed along the principal fault plane of the Jiaojia fault and covered by a layer of continuous and stable fault gouge with a thickness of 2-50 cm. Other ore bodies are distributed in a set of gentle-dipping fractures and a set of steep-dipping fractures. The gentle-dipping fractures are parallel or nearly parallel to the principal fault plane. Their dip angles are mainly 160-500 with a few greater than 500. The angles between the fractures and the axis of drill cores vary from 400 to 740 except for a few which are less than 400. The individual gentle-dipping fractures are relatively wide (usually 5-10 cm in width) and straight, indicating its shear na-tore. The steep-dipping fractures crosscut obliquely the principal fault plane or dip oppositely to the main fault. They have dip angles often greater than 800 with a few between 600-700. The angles between the fractures and the axis of drill cores are usually less than 100 except for a few being 200-300. The individual steep-dipping fractures are relatively narrow (usually 2-4 cm in width) and occur as asymmetric buckling plane,

求帮忙,私信我Despite the potential of N-hydroxyphthalimide as a sustainableorganocatalyst for autoxidations, recycling remains a largely unexplored butimportant topic. In this contribution, impregnation on silica is presented as a successful immobilization strategy. The activity of this catalyst duringcyclohexane autoxidation is closelycorrelated with the support surface structure, as elucidated by 29Si MAS NMR. It is found that sorption ofbyproducts is the main cause ofdeactivation such that only silicas with a low number of residual hydroxylgroups result in stable catalyticsystems. Nevertheless, even for activecatalysts, a slight loss in activity can be observed on a first recycling.Fortunately, the catalytic activityremains steady in subsequent recyclingruns, showing only negligible additional byproduct sorption. The reducedhydroperoxide and enhancedketone yields afforded by this catalyst isexplained in terms of the phthalimide-N-oxyl radical chemistry, whereby thisnitroxyl radical efficientlyconverts hydroperoxide to ketone onabstraction of the αH-atom. Theautoxidation of hydrocarbons, such as cyclohexane,p-xylene,ethylbenzene, and toluene, are important processessin thechemical industry [1,2]. Yet improving the performanceof suchaerobic oxidations remains an industrial and scientificchallenge.Recently, the radical chain chemistry was reinvestigatedfor twomodel substrates (i.e., cyclohexane and ethylbenzene)through ajoint experimental and theoretical approach[3–7]. Fromthese studies, it can be concluded that crucial reactionshave beenoverlooked for decades. For instance, chaincarryingperoxylradicals (ROO•) abstract not only H atomsfrom thesubstrate [reaction (1)], but also (even more rapidly)theweakly bonded αH-atom(s) of the hydroperoxide product(ROOH) [reaction (2)]:This ignoredpropagation of the hydroperoxide is of great importancebecause it producesboth the ketone (Q=O, where Qrepresents R−αH) and alcohol (ROH) products from the start ofthe reaction. In thepast, these products were attributed to a terminationreaction between two chain-carrying peroxyl radicalsHowever, this reaction is too slow to account for a sizeablefractionof the products. Q=O originates immediately after theαHabstraction from ROOH as the R−αH•OOHproduct radicaldecomposespromptly to Q=O + •OH[reaction (2)],therebyreleasingabout 30 kcal/mol [8]. The translationally “hot” •OHradicalrapidly abstracts an H atom from a substrate molecule, surrounding the nascent products:Thisrapid abstraction reaction liberates additional heat, makingtheoverall ROOH propagation exothermic by about 50 kcal/mol[3,4,7]. Thisheat causes the formation of a nanosized hot spot200–300 Kabove the bulk temperature. Although the out-ofcagediffusion[reaction (5)] [9] has alower energy barrier thanthe cagereaction [reaction (6)], the latter can compete becauseof the high temperature of the hot spot [3,4]:Note thatthe cage channel [reaction (6)] causes a net destructionof ROOHand is identified as the missing alcohol source. It isimportant to emphasize that this revised reaction schemereadilyexplains the observed ol:one ratios of about 1.5 in cyclohexaneoxidationand 0.5 in ethylbenzene oxidation. Indeed, thereactivity of the R• radical governs the efficiency of the activatedcagereaction [reaction (6)], rationalizing why less ROHisproduced (relative to Q=O) in ethylbenzene autoxidation [7].WhereasRO• radicalsare generally converted to additional alcoholvia Habstraction from the substrate [reaction (7)], forcyclohexoxyradicals (CyO•), a unimolecular side reaction canoccur [reaction (8)]Duringthe thermal autoxidation of cyclohexane, this β-cleavagesubsequentto ROOH propagation, rather than the assumedoveroxidationof cyclohexanone, is responsible for most of thering-openedbyproducts [6].Animportant but overlooked role of the cyclohexanoneproductin cyclohexane autoxidation is its assistance in thechaininitiation [5]. Indeed, the efficiency of the homolytic dissociationof RO–OH[reaction (9)] is verylow in the liquidphase asthe nascent radicals rather recombine in their solventcagethan theydiffuse out of this Franck–Rabinowitch cage [9]and start off new chains:Therefore,a pure O–O scission cannot be responsible for fastchaininitiation. A new bimolecular initiation reaction betweenthehydroperoxide and the cyclohexanone product has beenidentifiedand kinetically quantified [5]: In reaction (10), the •OHradical breaking away from the CyO–OHmolecule abstracts a weakly bonded αH atom from the ketone, producingthe resonance-stabilized ketonyl radical, CyO•,andwater. Not only does this reaction face a lower energy barrier, also itsinitiation efficiency (i.e., the initiation over geminaterecombinationratio) is much higher. As the ketone concentrationincreasessharply with time, also the initation rateincreasesrapidly, leading to the observed autocatalytic swing inthecyclohexane autoxidation. For substrates such as ethylbenzene,in whichall C–H bonds in the ketone product are muchstrongerthan those in cyclohexanone, the conversion increaseslesssharply over time compared with cyclohexane autoxidation[7]. Infact, even a slight inhibition can be observed, dueto thealcohol co-oxidation ((11)–(13)), producing HO•2 radicals[10]. Theseradicals terminate diffusion controlled with thechain-carryingperoxyl radicals in a head-to-tail reaction, yieldingO2 [11]As thechain initiation and chain termination steps together controltheautoxidation rate, transition metal ions, such as Co2+/3+and Mn2+/3+, oftenare added, because they are known to catalyzethe initiationreaction [1,2]. A fewyears back, Ishii et al.proposed N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI, Scheme1), withorwithouttransition metal ions, as a homogeneous organocatalystfor theliquid-phase oxidation of several substrates [12–23].Atpresent, many accounts can be found on the use of variousN-hydroxyimidesas efficient catalysts for various oxyfunctionalizations[24–27]. Thecatalytic power of NHPI is explained byan insitu conversion to phthalimide-N-oxyl radicals (PINO•,Scheme1) [26–31]on its equilibratedreaction with ROO• radicals(14)[32,33]. PINO• can inturn abstract H atoms fromthesubstrate RH to regenerate NHPI and propagate the radicalchain.Crucial to the catalysis is the fact that PINO• radicalsdo notterminate with each other or with peroxyl radicals[32];therefore, PINO• is a much more efficient chain carrierthan ROO•,enhancing the radical chain length. Consequently, theoverall oxidation rate increases significantly. The catalyticNHPI cycle is outlined in the following reactions:Thecatalytic efficiency (CE) of NHPI-assisted autoxidations isgiven bythe following equation, where k15 and k1 represent therateconstants of reactions (15) and (1), respectively, and Keq,14representsthe equilibrium constant of reaction According to this equation, an N-hydroxyimidecatalyst shouldhave afairly strong &NO–H bond to allow rapid H abstractionby thecorresponding &NO• radical. If the &NO–H bondishowevertoo weak, the corresponding nitroxyl radical becomesa radicaltrap. But the &NO–H bond should not be too strong, becausethis would shift equilibrium (14) toward the less efficientROO• radicals. In the end, it turns out that more, but, as aconsequence, slightly less reactive nitroxyl radicals result in abettercatalytic performance [33].Despitethe interesting chemistry that has been developed, the costof NHPI remains a difficult hurdle. Recycling of thisorganocatalystremains an important issue to broaden the applicabilityof NHPI.One recycling approach that has beeninvestigatedis the covalent anchoring of NHPI to an ionicliquid [34],resulting in an interesting homogeneous process. However, heterogeneous catalysis offers several practical advantagesoverhomogeneous catalysis [35]. To date, one heterogeneousNHPIsystem has been reported, unfortunately operatingin aceticacid as a solvent [36].The aimof the present work was to investigate opportunitiesfor thedesign of a solvent-free heterogeneous NHPI system, based onits simple impregnation on silica. The stability andperformanceof these materials was studied in the autoxidationofcyclohexane and interpreted in the framework of the radicalmechanism.
