Proceedings B welcomes papers of high quality in any area of biological science. As a fast track journal, Proceedings B specialises in the rapid delivery of the latest research to the scientific community, normally within three months of acceptance. It is published on the 7th and 22nd of each month. Many more good manuscripts are submitted to us, than we have space to print, and we give preference to those that present significant advances of broad interest. Submission of preliminary reports, of papers that merely confirm previous findings, and of papers that are likely to interest only small groups of specialists, is not encouraged. All papers are sent to Editorial Board members for an initial assessment of their suitability, and may be returned to authors without in-depth peer-review if this assessment makes it seem unlikely that they will be accepted.

Royal Society of Chemistry journals portfolio performs well across the board with Chemical Science, Chemical Society Reviews and Energy and Environmental Science seeing substantial rises in their Impact Factors.Energy and Environmental Science, which launched in 2008, performed strongly with a 32.5% rise to an Impact Factor (IF) of 20.523. The journal continues to be the first in the Environmental Sciences category of the 2014 Journal Citation Report (JCR)* and comes in the top 5% of journals in all four of the ISI categories where it is listed.Chemical Science showed continued IF development receiving 9.211, a 7.1% rise, ranking it 14 from 148 journals in the Chemistry, Multidisciplinary category. In January 2015, Chemical Science became a Gold Open Access journal and we are pleased to be showcasing this high quality content in an open access environment.Chemical Society Reviews saw an increase in IF to 33.383, ranked second in the Chemistry, Multidisciplinary category, while Chemical Communications received an IF of 6.834.Journal of Materials Chemistry, which evolved into three journals: A, B and C in 2013, all received their first Impact Factors of A- 7.443, B-4.726 and C-4.696.“We are committed to publishing the highest quality research across our journal portfolio and providing a world–class service to our authors - these results are a testament to these aims,” says Emma Wilson, Director of Publishing at the Royal Society of Chemistry.She added: “We are delighted that authors are choosing to publish their best work with us the results are also a great reflection of the dedication from our journal editors, editorial boards, referees and authors and we would like to thank them all for their continued support.”The 2014 JCR indicates the quality of content, and citation impact, across the RSC’s titles.
