　　[4791在 新编英语语法教程》p．576上，章振邦教授在讲述unless和if?not的用法时，提供以下一例：
　　You will get a good grade in the course unless you don&t do your homework．
　　并有说明：如果unless分句本身是个否定句，那么unless就不可以为if．．．not所取代。有以下一例：
　　Don&t ask me to explain unless you really don&t understand．
　　请问unless用来引导否定从句吗?
　　按照英语中的表达习惯，unless不能用来引导否定从句。编者认为：I will look you up unless you do not agree．是误句。要改为：(1)I will look you up ifyou agree．(2)1willlookyouupunlessyouobject．(3)I willlook you up unless you disagree．另外，在 英语常用词用法词典 (修订版)p．509上，也认为把&除非我不干，我要干就得干好。&译为：UnlessIdon&tdoit，I&Udoitwel1．是误译。正确的译法应该是：Either&I do it well，or I don&t do it at al1．或：I&ll do it well if I do it at al1．一般说来，连词unless往往引导一个肯定形式的从句。这时，unless从句相当于if．．．not，但unless从句语气较重。例如：
　　1．Unless it rains，the game will be played．除非下雨，比赛将照常进行。
　　2．Unless the two countries soon reach an understanding，there will be war．除非两国立即达成协议，否则将会发生战争。
　　3．Unless the government agrees to give extra money，the theatre will have to close．如果政府不同意提供更多的资金，这剧院将不得不关闭。
　　4．You won&t pass your examination unless you study hard．如果你不用功的话，考试会通不过的。
　　不过，unless从句尽管其谓语动词不用否定形式，但可以出现带有否定意义的词或词组。这时，unless作&除非(有下述情况)解，不能为if．．．not所代替。例如：
　　1．1 won&t phone you，unless something unforeseen happens．我不打电话给你，除非发生意外。
　　2．1 will go unless no one else does．别人不去我才去。
　　3．Unless something unexpected happens，I&11 see you tomorrow．如果不出意外，我明天去看你。
　　4．That&S Dr Campbell&S car outside the house，unless I&m very much mistaken．除非我弄错，屋外的那辆轿车是坎贝尔医生的。
　　5．The directors have a meeting every Friday，unless there is nothing to discuss．经理们每周五开会，除非没有什么问题要讨论的。
　　综上所述，根据英语的表达习惯，unless不可引导否定从句，但可带有具有否定意义的词或词组。因此，所问的句1宜改为：You will get a good grade in the course if you do your homework．或You will not get a good grade in the course unless you do your homework．句2宜改为：Don&t ask me to explain if you understand．
