焦亚硫酸钠不可以食用物化性质：焦亚硫酸钠为白色或黄色结晶粉末或小结晶,带有强烈的SO2气味,比重 1.4,溶于水,水溶液呈酸性,与强酸接触则放出SO2而生成相应的盐类,久置空气中,则氧化成Na2S2O4,故该产品不能久存.高于1500C,即分解出SO2.焦亚硫酸钠（或钾）盐与水反应产生SO2气体.但同时产生亚硫酸钠（或钾）盐,呈碱性,抑制了反应的继续进行.

焦亚硫酸钠可以用于食品漂白！当作为食俯常碘端鄢得碉全冬户品漂白剂时要加柠檬酸或稀盐酸！当作防腐剂，抗氧化剂，护色剂时，可以单独使用，不过会有相关使用剂量的规定！作为膨松剂时要使用小苏打（碳酸氢钠），碳酸氢钾，或碳酸氢铵！
