日本留学分很多种，如果你是想来读语言学校学日语的话，最基本的4级就可以了。因为你是来学日语的嘛，不懂日语很正常。但最好考一个等级，最基本的等级就行，这样签证率或许高些。
你读完语言学校之后，你需要考大学。报考大学的资格一般是2级以上，另外还必须参加一个叫做留学生考试，考的课程是日语，数学（分文科数学和理科数学），然后还要考文综或者理综。你留学生考试的成绩高，那么就可以报考好一点的学校，成绩不高就报考差的学校，这个和国内差不多。
除了考留学生考试之外，还需要参加你所报考学校的招生考试，每个大学一般都会单独的出题，题的形式因学校不同而不一样。大部分英文也是要考到的。另外，如果你想考日本的国公立大学，大部分国公立大学需要在报考时提交托福或者托业成绩。
