拉迪亚德.吉卜林 英文名 Rudyard Kipling吉卜林(RudyardKipling,)英国小说家、诗人、短篇作家。日生于印度的孟加,6岁回到了英国。母亲是油画家伯恩·琼斯(Edward Burne-Jones, )的弟妹。Rudyard Kipling的第一个女儿早年夭折,儿子在第一次世界大战中丧生。1907年获得诺贝尔文学奖。他是第一个英语作家获得该奖项。Rudyard Kipling于日逝世,葬于伦敦西敏寺的诗人公墓内。 1年后,个人自传Something Of Myself出版。父亲曾吉吉博伊(Jeejeebhoy)是孟买艺术学校的工艺老师,后任拉合尔艺术学校校长和博物馆馆长。吉卜林6岁时被送回英国受教育,17岁中学毕业返回印度,父亲为他在拉合尔找了份工作,担任拉合尔市《军民报》副编辑。由于工作关系,他游篇印度的风土人情以及英国殖民者在印度的生活有相当透彻的了解。英国、诗人。在美国他写出脍炙人口的《丛林奇谈》,轰却了英美文坛。他主要作品还有诗集《军营歌谣》、《七海》、《王国》,短篇小说集《原来如此的故事》等。
