通信卫星communications&satellite&&&无线电通信中继站的人造地球卫星。通信卫星反射或转发无线电信号，实现卫星通信地球站之间或地球站与航天器之间的通信。通信卫星是各类卫星通信系统或卫星广播系统的空间部分。一颗静止轨道通信卫星大约能够覆盖地球表面的40％，使覆盖区内的任何地面、海上、空中的通信站能同时相互通信&&。在赤道上空等间隔分布的3颗静止通信卫星可以实现除两极部分地区外的全球通信。1958年12月美国发射世界上第一颗试验通信卫星&&。1963年美国和日本通过中继1号卫星第一次进行了横跨太平洋的电视传输。中国于日发射了一颗地球静止轨道试验通信卫星。通信卫星按轨道分为静止通信卫星和非静止通信卫星；按服务区域不同可分为国际通信卫星和区域通信卫星或国内通信卫星；按用途可分为专用通信卫星和多用途通信卫星，前者如电视广播卫星、军用通信卫星、海事通信卫星、跟踪和数据中继卫星等，后者如军民合用的通信卫星，兼有通信、气象和广播功能的多用途卫星等。&&&&&&&地球与通信卫星（合成照片）&&&&&&通信卫星的主要业务范围是点到多点或多点到多点通信；包括电视、广播、稀路由通信和陆海空移动通信等。通信卫星几乎承担了全部洲际电视传输和大部分洲际通信业务。卫星通信广播业务也向着传送高清晰度电视、直播电视、话音广播、小型卫星地球通信站、移动通信等方向发展。
