Fines are charged 7 days per week and include closed days. Library material must be returned before closing time on the due date.
Holders of CHILDREN&S, PRE-SCHOOL, and INSTITUTIONAL (DAYCARE, NURSING HOME) cards do not pay late return fines.

The maximum number of library items on loan at one time is 50. New borrowers may have a maximum of 10 items on loan at one time during the first four months after getting a card.
No renewals on Interlibrary Loans.
Patrons must have a VPL library card number to place holds
50 holds per card per calendar year at no charge
Each additional hold will cost $0.50. Limit of 50 holds per card at one time.
There is a $1.00 charge for holds not picked up.
Interlibrary Loan Holds
Charge depends on lending library.
Loan not picked up - $1.00 if borrowed from within B.C.
Loan not picked up - $5.00 if borrowed from outside B.C
Additional Charges
Non-pickup of holds: $1.00
Non-pickup of out-of-province interlibrary loans: $5.00
Charges for lost or damaged materials that have been catalogued will include a processing fee of $12.00. This fee helps to cover the costs of replacing a library item.
Lost Cards
Protect your library card as you would your credit cards. Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately. Anything taken out on your card is your responsibility until the card is reported missing. The charge to replace a lost card is $2.00.
Borrowing Privileges
You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged.
A borrower who has more than 10 items overdue, fines over $10.00, owes more than $10.00 in lost or damaged material, or has more than five items they claim to have returned but which the library has not located, will lose all borrowing privileges until their account has been brought below these limits.
Cards for Children and Youth - 18 Years and Younger
We do not charge late return fines to children, but we do encourage them to use the library responsibly: all other charges apply. When they reach 14 years of age, they will have their own youth card. Daily and maximum late return fines for youth aged 14 -18 are half the regular amount.
Adults may not borrow material for their own use on a child or youth library card. Parents are responsible for activity on a child's card until the child is 19 years of age.
Renewing Materials
You can renew materials at any VPL branch, or 24 hours a day via our automated telephone service (Telecirc 604-257-3830) or our website (""). However, if the item is due that day, you must renew before closing to avoid overdue charges.
Returning Materials
Library materials should be returned before closing time on the due date. Fines are charged seven (7) days per week, including days the library is closed. Any material returned through the return slot will be treated as returned on the last day the library was open.
Materials may be returned to any other public libraries in the Lower Mainland that are part of , but cannot be cleared from your record until they reach VPL. Interlibrary loan materials must be returned to VPL.
Email Notification
If you give us an email address, you will receive email notifications when your requests are ready for pickup, and overdue notices when material is a certain number of days overdue. Otherwise you will be contacted by phone or mail.
All borrowers who receive VPL email library notices will also get email reminders two days before items are due, so that they can return or renew their items before fines apply. Please note that failure to receive reminders from VPL will not excuse borrowers from late charges.

If you change your address or other personal information, contact any branch of VPL, Or fill out a .

But seriously, let’s say I kidnapped one of your kids (and not the ugly one, but the good one)….and you had to come up with a $1,000,000 bucks by the end of the month to get him&back.
How would you do it?

So this is a pretty difficult question to answer. &So I again asked some very very successful friends in varied industries how they would make $1,000,000 in around a month to help jog your mind before you answer in the comments.&

To people with&billions of dollars, a million dollars is a thousand dollars. Solve a problem that someone with billions of dollars has.
I would do my same tactic of creating a custom piece of software that saves a large company company, and selling them that custom solution. &I would find who to sell it to through LinkedIn.
INVESTOR & FINANCE DUDE:

There’s usually no way to inherently increase the value of an investment by 10x or 100x very quickly, unless it’s inherently super risky.
So in this situation of making a shit ton of money quickly, I’d find a small pharmaceutical company that’s on the verge of an FDA approval announcement, and bet heavily for (or against) them.
That’a the only way I can think of increasing an investment that rapidly.
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER:
“HOW WOULD YOU MAKE AN EXTRA $1,000,000 IN A MONTH?”:
Well you’re talking a little crazy about making $1,000,000 that quickly, so I’ll give a crazy answer. &The stars have to align for this to happen, but I HAVE seen it done several times:
You go and find a large apartment complex that’s in trouble and running under terrible management. &Perhaps a complex&that&owes $20million to bank, but their property is only appraised and worth $15million, and they are about to go bankrupt.
You approach their bank and step in as a “solvent entity” to take over that loan.
You say, “I don’t think the property is worth $15,000,000 as appraised…..but I’ll still offer you $16,000,000 and you don’t have to go through with the foreclosure process on the property.”
The bank might be happy to sell you the loan, because they don’t wanna deal with the whole bankruptcy and foreclosure process. &So you might be able to buy this $20million dollar loan at a SIGNIFICANT discount at around $16million.
Now if the property forecloses, YOU get full ownership. &You can usually put in just a few hundred thousand dollars to increase the value of that property to $18million. &So now for roughly $16.5 million you sold a property for $18million.
You just made $1,500,000 in profit in a super short amount of time. &
The stars have to align for this to happen, but I’ve seen it done.

主语从句讲解及练习
一、概述：在句子中起名词作用的各种从句统称为名词性从句。根据它们在句中的语法作用，这类从句又可分为主语从句、同位语从句、表语从句和宾语从句。&
二.主语从句主要有三类：
（1） 由连词that引导的主语从句:引导词that无含义,在句中不做成分,不可以省。
例如：That you will win the medal seems unlikely.
你想获得奖牌看起来是不可能的。
That you are so indifferent bothers me.
你如此冷淡使我很烦恼。
That she survived the accident is a miracle.
她在事故中幸免于难简直是奇迹。
（2） 用连词 whether 引导的主语从句:whether有含义(是否),在句中不做成分,不可以省。
例如：Whether she is coming or not doesn’t matter too much.
她来不来都无关紧要。
（3） 用连接代词引导的主语从句(在由连接代词who, whose, whom, which, what, whoever,
whomever, whichever,
whatever引导的名词性从句中，其连接代词在句中起名词性作用，担当一定成分).
例如：What you need is more practice.
你所需要的是更多的训练。
What I want to know is this. 我想知道的就是这事。
Whatever we do is to serve the people.
我们无论做什么都是为人民服务。
（4）用连接副词when, where, why, how引导的名词性从句(其连接副词有含义,在句中作状语。)
eg:Where we should leave it is a problem.
When they will come hasn’t been made pubic.
他们什么时候来还不知道。
三.注意点:
1.it 做形式主语,而将主语从句放在句末（尤其是当谓语较短时）。
例如：That light travels in straight lines is known to all.
光沿直线传播，这是众所周知的事。
=It is known to all that light travels in straight lines.
众所周知光沿直线传播。
When the plane is to take off has not been announced .
飞机何时起飞还没有宣布。
= It has not been announced when the plane is to take off.
还没有宣布飞机何时起飞。
(当what引导的主语从句表示“…的东西”时，一般不用it作形式主语。)
错:It is a book what he wants.
对:What he wants is a book. 他想要的是本书。
例如：Has it been settled who will be sent to carry out the task
谁将被派去执行这项任务决定了吗 ？
固定用法和译法
（1） It is +名词+从句
It is a fact that… 事实是……
It is good news that … ……是好消息
It is a question that … ……是个问题
It is common knowledge that … ……是常识
类似的名词还有：a pity；a wonder；a good thing； no wonder； surprise等。
例如：It is a mystery to me how it all happened.
这一切是怎么发生的是个谜。
It is common knowledge that the whale is not a fish.

（2） It is +形容词+从句

很明显导体和绝缘体在工业中都很重要。
